More space to dream – why you’ll love the comfort size

10. November 2025 | Worth knowing

Do you know this? You snuggle up in bed at night, tuck the duvet under your feet and suddenly your shoulders are exposed. Or you turn over, pull the duvet up higher and your feet peek out. These little moments make the difference between a peaceful or restless night. The solution is as simple as it is ingenious: a comfort-sized duvet (155 × 220 cm). What does comfort size actually mean? The classic standard size of 135 × 200 cm is widely used in Germany, but it does not suit every type of sleeper. The comfort size is 20 cm longer and 20 cm wider and therefore offers noticeably more freedom of movement. The special feature: It is not only intended for tall people. Smaller people also benefit from the extra space because they can tuck the duvet in better and wrap themselves up completely. Without cold feet or shoulders. More length, more security The extra length not only provides warmth, but also a feeling of security. Many sleepers report that they sleep more peacefully under a longer duvet and wake up less often. Because if you can move freely, you don’t have to constantly adjust the duvet. Whether you turn at night, pull the duvet over your shoulders or wrap it tightly around you, there is always enough room for pure relaxation in the comfort size. Ideal for every season The comfort size really comes into its own in winter: It keeps you evenly warm because no draughts get to your feet. But it also scores points in summer, especially if you like to wrap yourself up loosely without the duvet being too short. The larger surface area distributes the heat better and ensures a balanced sleeping climate, whatever the season. A plus in style for your bedroom In addition to comfort, the longer duvet is also visually appealing. A comfort-sized comforter looks more generous and harmonious on the bed, especially in combination with fine bed linen. It gives your bedroom a luxurious look that radiates peace and well-being. And honestly, what could be nicer than lying in a perfectly made bed that invites you to dream? Last but not least: More comfort for taller people The comfort size is not only a treat for anyone who likes to snuggle up, it is also ideal for taller people. With a length of 220 cm, it finally offers enough space for taller sleepers to be fully covered. No cold feet, no pulling on the duvet. Simply relax, take a deep breath and feel good. Conclusion: More space for dreaming Sometimes it’s the small changes that make the biggest difference. The comfort size is not just a question of body size, but a decision for more comfort, warmth and restful sleep. Once you’ve tried them, you’ll never want to go back. And because a good night’s sleep also needs a good feeling, all our bedding is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Class 1 certified. In addition, all comforters in our brand collections carry the label MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® for sustainable sleeping comfort that feels right every night.

Which duvet to use in the fall? The advantages of an all-season duvet

29. August 2025 | Worth knowing

Sometimes warm, sometimes cold – that’s exactly what fall is like. No sooner have you got used to fresh, rainy evenings than the sun surprises you again the next day with almost summer-like temperatures. These ups and downs are typical of the transitional period and make it particularly difficult to find the right comforter in the bedroom. If your duvet is too thick, you will quickly get too warm. If it’s too thin, you’ll shiver on cool nights. If you’re constantly switching between summer and winter comforters, you rarely get a truly relaxing night’s sleep. Fortunately, there is an uncomplicated solution – the all-season duvet. It ensures a balanced sleeping climate, no matter how moody the autumn weather turns out to be. Why the right sleeping climate is so important in fall Autumn is a time of transition – not only outside in nature, but also for your body. The days get shorter, the light changes and you spend more time indoors. At the same time, your immune system faces particular challenges at this time of year. This makes it all the more important that you strengthen it with restful sleep and give your body the regeneration it needs. The sleeping climate plays a key role in this. If it is too warm in bed, you will sleep restlessly and wake up sweaty. If it’s too cool, you curl up, freeze and your deep sleep phases are disrupted. Both cost you energy – at a time of year when you really need it. A duvet that reliably balances temperature and moisture is therefore more than just comfort: it is the basis for healthy sleep and noticeably improves your well-being in autumn. The advantages of an all-season duvet in the fall Especially now, when the temperatures outside are on a rollercoaster, the all-season duvet is your uncomplicated companion for relaxed sleep. A high-quality all-season duvet offers you several advantages: ✔ Optimum heat regulation – it keeps you comfortably warm without making you sweat. ✔ Breathability – excess moisture is wicked away for a dry sleeping environment. ✔ Practical solution – no annoying switching back and forth between summer and winter duvet. shop now Quality you can feel night after night – Made in Germany At Centa-Star, all duvets are made in our in-house production facility in Stuttgart. Allergy-friendly bedding and bed linens: restful sleep despite dust mite allergy

21. March 2025 | Worth knowing, healthcare

With spring comes a challenging time for many allergy sufferers: while pollen flies outside, another invisible threat lurks indoors – dust mites. Itchy eyes, a stuffy nose, or breathing difficulties are nightly companions for many affected. The classic solution? Encasings – special protective covers that enclose allergens in the bedding. Sounds good, but often doesn’t feel that way: rustling noises, sweaty sleep, and limited comfort don’t exactly make the night more pleasant. With AllergoProtect® from Centa-Star, there is a better solution: duvets and pillows for allergy sufferers that actively bind allergens – without annoying protective covers. Ideal for anyone looking for an alternative to classic allergy bedding. Why are dust mites even a problem? Dust mites are tiny arachnids that thrive especially well in mattresses, pillows, and duvets. The problem is not the mite itself, but its feces: it contains allergy-triggering proteins that enter the respiratory tract and can cause symptoms. Especially in warm and humid environments – exactly where we sleep – mites reproduce quickly. The good news: with the right bedding such as duvets and pillows, allergen exposure can be significantly reduced. AllergoProtect®: smart protection without compromises AllergoProtect® uses a special technology that not only blocks allergens but actively binds and neutralizes them. Unlike encasings, which merely create a barrier between you and the allergens, AllergoProtect prevents allergens from getting into the air in the first place. That’s why these duvets and pillows are particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. Advantages at a glance: No encasings needed – no annoying extra covers, no rustling. Allergens are bound – fewer symptoms, better sleep quality. Washable at 60°C – allergens and mites are reliably removed. Soft and breathable – comfortable sleep without a plastic feel. Encasings vs. AllergoProtect® – the direct comparison PropertyEncasingsAllergoProtect®Protection against allergens✔✔✔ (actively binds allergens)Sleep comfortLimited (rustles, less breathable)High (soft & breathable)WashabilityRarely washedCan be washed regularlyMaintenance effort High (extra covers necessary)Low (no extra covers) Washing allergy-friendly bedding and bed linens: how often is advisable? Regular care helps reduce mites and allergens. Our recommendations: Pillows & duvets: wash every 3 months at 60°C. Bed linen: change every 1–2 weeks and wash at least at 60°C. Mattress protectors: wash at least every 6 months. Many allergy sufferers ask: “Does health insurance cover allergy bedding and bed linens?” Currently, AllergoProtect® is not subsidized by health insurance. Nevertheless, investing in high-quality duvets and pillows for allergy sufferers is worthwhile, as they can contribute to better sleep quality in the long term. Allergy-friendly duvets and pillows for spring Especially in spring, when allergies are particularly burdensome for many, restful sleep is all the more important. A high-quality allergy duvet can help reduce allergen exposure – without the disadvantages of traditional protective measures. Spring promotion: get a free pillow! Washing bed linen properly: For lasting freshness & hygiene

28. February 2025 | How To’s, Tips & Tricks, Worth knowing

Spring is knocking at the door, and that means: time for a big spring clean! But have you also thought about your bed linen, duvets, and pillows? They’re real dust magnets and deserve just as much attention as the rest of your bedroom. To ensure you sleep fresh and hygienically, you should wash your bed linen properly. We’ll show you what matters – for a clean and comfortable sleeping experience. For even more detailed information on properly cleaning bed linen, duvets, and pillows, check out our care guide here: How to Wash Pillows and Duvets and our Care Instructions. Bed linen or bedding: What’s the difference? Bed linen and bedding are often used interchangeably, but there’s an important distinction: Bed linen refers to covers for pillows and duvets – the fabric that comes in direct contact with your skin. It should be washed regularly. Bedding refers to the actual pillows and duvets inside the covers. These also require cleaning, but not as frequently. Even though many people search for “washing bed linen,” it’s just as important to clean the bedding itself regularly to remove dust, mites, and allergens. Our high-quality Centa-Star bedding is washable and offers a hygienic solution for restful sleep – without complicated care. How often should you wash bed linen and bedding? While bed linen should be washed about every 1 to 2 weeks, duvets and pillows need less frequent but still regular cleaning: Washing duvets: At least 1–2 times per year Washing pillows: Every 3–6 months, depending on use Washing bedding for allergy sufferers: At least every 3 months, to reduce dust mites and allergens Proper Care: Temperatures, Detergent & Tips To keep your bed linen, duvets, and pillows hygienically clean while preserving their quality, proper care is essential: Wash at the correct temperature: Our Centa-Star fiber bedding can be washed at up to 60°C – the ideal temperature to kill dust mites and germs. For more eco-conscious washing, 40°C is often sufficient. Which detergent to use? Use a special detergent that preserves the filling of your bedding. Our Ultra Wash detergent is perfect for feathers, down, and synthetic fibres. Spinning & drying: Choose a low spin speed (max. 800 RPM) and dry your bedding in a tumble dryer with dryer balls to fluff up the filling. Avoid these common washing mistakes Using too much detergent: This can cause clumping and reduce the breathability of your bedding. Skipping the dryer: Many duvets and pillows only regain their fluffiness through proper tumble drying. Ignoring care instructions: Every fabric and filling has specific needs – always check the label first! Using fabric softener: It clogs the filling and significantly affects the functionality of duvets and pillows. Understanding wash symbols made easy Wash symbols can be confusing. Here’s a quick cheat sheet: Wash tub with a number: Indicates the max wash temperature (e.g., 40°C or 60°C) Square with a circle & one dots: Tumble dry at a lower temperature Square with a circle & two dots: Tumble dry at a normal temperature Crossed-out triangle: Do not bleach. Avoid harsh bleach products that can damage materials. Crossed-out iron: Do not iron. Heat can damage the material. Crossed-out circle: No dry cleaning. Use only water and suitable detergent. Tip: Modern smartphones can now recognize wash symbols automatically! iPhones and many Android devices offer apps that decode symbols just by snapping a photo of the care label. Spring cleaning promotion: Get free detergent! Just in time for spring cleaning, we have a great offer for you! When you purchase a WashMe pillow or a Vital-Plus duvet, you’ll receive a free Ultra Wash detergent. That way, you can clean your bed linen, duvets, and pillows effectively – and gently – for lasting freshness and hygiene. So, what are you waiting for? Start your spring clean now and enjoy a clean, fresh sleep experience!

And how can we give ourselves the rest we so desperately need during the coldest time of the year? Discover how a conscious “winter sleep in January” can help you recharge your energy. Why your body calls for rest now In January, it’s cold, dark, and we feel drained of energy. No wonder: Our biorhythm is designed to respond to the shorter days and lower temperatures. For humans, it may not be as extreme, but we can still hardly ignore the signals our bodies send. This means our body is actively asking us to slow down and use the dark winter months for regeneration and rest. Instead of fighting against this need, we can make the most of this time to give ourselves more attention and introduce small rituals into our daily routine that promote our well-being. Washing pillows and comforters: how to do it right!

6. May 2024 | How To’s, Tips & Tricks

In spring 2020, the motto is: stay at home. To slow down the spread of the global coronavirus pandemic, everyone who can is currently staying at home. Because we spend so much time within our own four walls, tidiness and cleanliness are becoming increasingly important. Traditional spring cleaning is more popular than ever in times of coronavirus. What could be better than the feeling of freshly laundered bed linen? Exactly: sinking into completely clean pillows and comforters! To make sure nothing goes wrong when washing your pillows and comforters, we have summarized all the important information for you here: Washing pillows and comforters: Do they have to be? Each of us loses moisture, skin cells and sebum during the night. On average, we produce at least half a liter of sweat at night! The moisture naturally evaporates quickly, but the salts and skin oils it contains remain behind. Around 0.5 to 1 gram of dead skin cells are removed from our skin every night. In combination with moisture, these provide an excellent breeding ground for house dust mites. For better sleep quality House dust mites produce 200 times their body weight in excrement over the course of their lives – and it’s so light that we breathe it in at night! Do you really want to wash your pillows and comforters now? We think that’s a good idea, because clean bedding clearly makes us feel better and improves the quality of our sleep. How often should pillows and comforters be washed? We should wash our bed linen relatively often: once or twice a month is a good guideline. Your pillow and comforter don’t need to be washed as often, of course, but you should give them a treat once or twice a year. Incidentally, pillows are subject to more wear and tear than comforters and should therefore be washed a little more often. Try washing them every three months or so. When should comforters and pillows be replaced? If you treat your bedding with care and look after it a little, you will enjoy it for a long time. Shake comforters and pillows regularly in the morning and let them air out well. This will help them retain their original volume and great properties for a long time. For reasons of hygiene, however, you should replace comforters and comforters after 7 to 8 years and pillows after 2 to 3 years. Can you wash pillows? Don’t worry: all pillows made from our functional fiber and Feather/down assortments can be washed without any problems. If you follow a few rules, washing won’t harm them at all. For our pillows with a removable inner pillow, you can also wash the outer cover separately to protect the filling. Can I wash my down pillows at home? IMPORTANT: Only wash your feather and down comforters and pillows at home if you have a tumble dryer! The fine down and feathers clump together during washing and need to be separated again. This only works so well in the dryer that the bedding regains its usual fluffiness and warmth. You can wash your feather and down pillows in a household washing machine with a capacity of 5 kg or more. Never vacuum! You should also never vacuum down pillows and comforters, as otherwise the cover could lose its downproofness and small feathers and down could be sucked out. How do I wash my comforter? You can wash our complete fiber range conveniently at home in a washing machine with a capacity of 4.5 kg or more. Feather and down comforters can be washed at home with a capacity of 7 kg or more. Washing pillows and comforters: How full can the laundry drum be? For oversized comforters or comforters, we recommend that you wash them in a launderette, as the washing machines there have a larger capacity. It can help to look at the weight of comforters and pillows to make a correct assessment: You can easily wash them in your household washing machine up to about one kilo filling weight. Pillows should always be washed individually. The washing drum must not be too full: It is best to only fill it halfway. If the drum is too full, the detergent cannot be distributed evenly and your washing machine can damage itself in the long run. Our functional fiber ranges are particularly easy to care for: you can wash all comforters and pillows at 60°C in the easy-care program of your washing machine. Exception: The cooling Famous pillow with Outlast® Heatspreader should only be washed at 40°C. For feather/down bedding, it is best to use the wool wash program up to 40°C. Washing cashmere and camel hair You know it from your cashmere sweater: wool products are often a little difficult to wash. Comforters and pillows filled with natural hair are usually not washable at home, or only to a limited extent, because they can shrink or felt quickly. Rinse & Spin All detergent residues must be thoroughly rinsed out to ensure that the bulkiness and insulating properties of our bedding are not compromised. However, be careful when spinning: Fiber comforters and pillows should be spun at a maximum of 1000 rpm, bedding with feathers should only be spun at a maximum of 800 rpm. The quills of the feathers could break under higher loads. What is the best way to store comforters and pillows? Can neck support pillows and toppers be washed? The cores of our special and neck support pillows and the foams of our toppers are not washable. However, they are equipped with a removable cover to protect them from soiling. If necessary, you can remove the cover and wipe the cores with a damp cloth. Allow them to dry thoroughly afterwards. The covers of our special and neck support pillows and mattress toppers are easy to wash. The covers of the NeckProtect® pillows and side pillows, as well as the Vario Nature and Vario Space covers from our pillow bar are washable at 40°C. All others can be washed at 60°C. Some of the covers are even suitable for tumble drying: Please pay close attention to the care symbols on the respective washing label.

Stay cool: The cooling pillow from the Famous series with Outlast®

4. May 2023 | Worth knowing

A cool pillow for hot nights – that’s the new Famous pillow with innovative Outlast® Heatspreader technology. Are you a hothead and looking for a solution to help you sleep better at night? Then this pillow is just the thing for you! The new pillowcase is covered on one side with the heatspreader, a shiny silver mesh that conducts heat away from the head and has a perfect temperature-regulating effect. We explain how it all works and why the pillow could be just right for you! What is Outlast® heatspreader technology? The heatspreader is the heart of the new cooling Famous pillow: a silver-colored net that runs over one side of the pillow. This net draws the heat away from the head and keeps the pillow nice and cool. But how does it actually work? Phase change materials (PCM) are incorporated into the heat spreader. These materials change their aggregate state depending on the temperature. At elevated temperatures, they liquefy and store the heat supplied. When the material cools down again, it releases the stored heat and becomes solid again. The heat-conducting mesh ensures rapid distribution of the heat and, in combination with the PCM, has an optimum temperature-equalizing effect. The heatspreader cover therefore always remains dry and at a pleasant temperature. How space technology ensures a good night’s sleep The technology behind the Outlast® heatspreader was originally developed by NASA for use in space. Spacesuits must be able to absorb large temperature differences so that astronauts can carry out their work in space. The side of the spacesuit facing the sun can get 120 degrees, while the side in the shade has to withstand temperatures of minus 100 degrees. What works in space also helps you keep a cool head on a smaller scale with the new Famous pillow. And what else can Famous – the cooling cushion do? Famous – the cooling pillow has two different sides. One side is covered with the Outlast® heatspreader, the other side consists of a superfine maco filling with CottonTEX, which is quilted with PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation. The interplay between the quick-drying CottonTEX finish and the PrimaLoft® microfiber fleece ensures a wonderfully dry and breathable sleeping experience. So you can use one side or the other as required. The pillow consists of an outer cover and a removable inner pillow. The inner pillow is filled with Breeze microfiber and can be individually adjusted in height by removing or adding filling material. The Breeze microfiber looks similar to absorbent cotton. As a result, it hardly clumps and feels as if you are sleeping on down. You can find the right refill bag for your Famous pillow HERE. What are the advantages of the Famous cooling pillow? So now you know what Famous – the cooling pillow is and how it works. But what are the specific benefits? 1. famous is perfect for hotheads People who sweat quickly during sleep and prefer a cool pillow will love Famous. Men in particular swear by the cooling pillow – especially in summer. Thanks to Outlast® Heatspreader technology and the breathable cover, the pillow remains pleasantly cool and dry. This ensures a restful sleep and prevents unpleasant sweating. 2. perfect temperature regulation The Outlast® heatspreader technology does not simply dissipate heat. Rather, the temperature of the pillow is perfectly regulated. The PCMs absorb heat when it gets too warm and release it when it gets too cold. As a result, the pillow always remains at a comfortable temperature, ensuring a good night’s sleep. 3. made in Germany Like our entire Centa-Star brand fiber range, the Famous pillow is manufactured entirely at our site in Stuttgart Untertürkheim. Innovative technology, loving craftsmanship and strict quality controls ensure that your pillow is perfectly finished all round. 4. tested quality The Famous pillow has been awarded the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Class 1 and is therefore guaranteed to be skin-friendly and tested for harmful substances. It has also undergone a comprehensive test by the Hohenstein Institute and also impresses with the highest quality in this independent test. Famous has been awarded the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® seal. You can therefore be sure that the supply chain is transparently traceable and that the cushion has been produced under good working and environmental conditions. 5. easy to clean and guaranteed durable Famous – the cooling pillow is not only super comfortable and pleasantly cool, but also very easy to care for. You can wash the pillow at up to 40 degrees and tumble dry. You can also wash the outer cover separately from the inner pillow – so the filling stays fluffy even longer and you need less space in the washing machine. Because we are so convinced of their quality, you get a 2-year guarantee on our branded pillows, including the Famous pillow. Famous – the cooling pillow is the perfect pillow for the summer, but also for the whole year. Thanks to the innovative technology and high-quality materials, you can enjoy a wonderfully restful sleep. Try it out and be inspired! jetzt shoppen

Time change for early risers and night owls

21. March 2023 | healthcare

The time change from winter time to summer time is a hotly debated topic every year. While some people welcome the longer evenings, others feel disturbed by the changeover and have problems sleeping. But what exactly happens to our body and our internal clock when the time is changed? In this blog post, we will look at the effects of the time change on sleep, the internal clock and the body. The effect of the time change on the body and our sleep Our body is set to a certain rhythm that is based on natural light and darkness. The time change throws this rhythm out of balance, as the time is suddenly moved forward by an hour. This can lead to sleep disorders, tiredness and concentration problems. The time change can also have an impact on the quality of sleep. A disturbed sleep-wake cycle can make you feel tired and listless, even though you have slept enough. It can also be difficult to fall asleep at the usual time in the evening and get up in the morning. This can lead to a vicious circle, as you feel tired and unfocused during the day, making it harder to fall asleep in the evening. Differences between early risers and night owls Everyone is different and so there are also different sleep needs and sleeping habits. While larks (aka early risers) are awake early in the morning and go to bed early in the evening, night owls (aka late risers) tend to be night owls and go to bed late and sleep longer in the morning. The time change can also have different effects on these different sleep types. Early risers often have fewer problems with the changeover as they are already awake early and are therefore naturally adapted to the new rhythm. For night owls, on the other hand, the changeover to summer time can be a challenge, as they normally go to bed later and sleep longer. To minimize the effects of the time change on sleep, it is advisable to adjust to the new rhythm a few days before the changeover. A gradual adjustment of the sleep rhythm can help to slowly prepare the body for the new time. The use of light therapy or relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation can also help to relax the body and improve sleep. Overall, then, there are differences in the way early risers and night owls react to the time change. Would you like to find out more about the two types of sleep? Then watch our video and get to know the owl and lark sleep types better. Gabriel takes you to Rosenheim to meet sleep expert Dr. Lutz Graumann and shares his exciting findings with you. 5 tips for easily adapting to the time change Adapt slowly: Start gradually changing your sleep rhythm a few days before the changeover. Go to bed a little earlier and get up a little earlier every day until you get used to the new rhythm. Use bright light in the morning: Expose yourself to natural daylight as early as possible in the morning. If it is still dark, you can also use a light alarm clock or a daylight lamp to wake up your body and promote your natural sleep rhythm. Avoid caffeine and alcohol: Avoid caffeine and alcohol in the days leading up to the time change, as these substances put unnecessary strain on your body and can disrupt your sleep. Try relaxation exercises: Relaxation exercises such as yoga or meditation can help to relax your body and promote sleep. A warm shower or a relaxing bath before going to bed can also help to calm your body and prepare you for sleep. Make sure you lead a healthy lifestyle: Make sure you eat a balanced diet, get enough exercise and have enough time for relaxation and rest. A healthy lifestyle can help keep your body fit and healthy and make it easier to adapt to the time change. Conclusion: To summarize, the time change in spring can be a challenge for our body and our sleep. The sudden change in time can lead to sleep disorders, tiredness and difficulty concentrating, especially in the first few days after the changeover. Sensitive people and those who already suffer from sleep disorders are particularly at risk. However, there are a few tips that can help you to easily adapt to the time change in spring. These include, for example, gradually adjusting your sleep rhythm, avoiding caffeine and alcohol and using bright light in the morning. Relaxation exercises such as yoga or meditation can also help to relax the body and improve sleep. But overall, it’s important to pay attention to your body’s signals and give yourself enough time to adjust to the time change. The debate about abolishing the time change continues and it remains to be seen what decisions will be made in the future. Until then, however, you can actively help to minimize the effects of the time change on your body and your sleep and adapt in the best possible way. The Centa-Star team wishes you a good night’s sleep at all times!

Curious facts about sleep

9. February 2023 | Worth knowing

No 1 – Schwarz-Weiß oder Farbe? Etwa 12% aller Menschen träumen regelmäßig in Schwarz-Weiß! No 2 – Frauen schlafen besser alleine Scientists suspect that our primal instincts are responsible for this: Women have a comparatively lighter sleep so that they can also respond to their children at night. For men, being close to their family simply gives them a sense of security, which is why they sleep more relaxed and soundly with a partner. However, subjective well-being is individual for each person. No 3 – Den Rasenmäher im Bett Zwei Drittel aller Männer schnarchen.

Centa-Star brand fiber range now with MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®

24. March 2022 | Sustainability

Things are getting greener at Centa-Star! We have long been concerned with environmental protection and sustainability. Our products are known for their durability, innovation and the famous Made in Germany quality. This year, we are going one step further and awarding our branded fiber range the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label. But what does the label mean and what added value does it bring you? What is OEKO-TEX® and the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® product label? OEKO-TEX® is an association of 17 independent textile and leather testing institutes to date. The label stands for the highest standard of materials tested for harmful substances in the textile and leather sector. For many years, all our Centa-Star products have been awarded the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class 1 label and are therefore also safe for babies and small children. The MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label was created in 2014 to give consumers a transparent overview of where and under what conditions the product was manufactured. How does a product receive the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label? In order for a product to be labeled MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®, it must first have received the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 label and the manufacturing company must be certified according to STeP by OEKO-TEX®. STeP by OEKO-TEX® The STeP by OEKO-TEX® certification stands for Sustainable Textile & Leather Production and aims to permanently implement environmentally friendly production processes, improve occupational safety and promote socially acceptable working conditions in production facilities. The following areas are audited in a company for this purpose: Chemical management, environmental performance, environmental management, social responsibility, quality management as well as health protection and occupational safety. We are proud to have achieved the highest level (Level 3) of STeP certification and are working to maintain this high standard. What does MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® stand for? To receive the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label for a product, the following criteria must be met: Tested harmful substance safety with the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 labelEnvironmentally friendly production and end productSocially acceptable working conditionsTransparent supply chain that is fully traceable using a product ID Transparency that you can verify You will find a hangtag with a specific product ID and QR code on every cushion and blanket that is MADE IN GREEN. You can easily scan the QR code with your smartphone, for example, and find out where and under what conditions the product was manufactured. From April 2022, this hangtag can also be found on products from our branded high-tech fiber range. Why did we choose this sustainable label? There are (now) many different sustainability certifications, all of which have different focuses and regulations. For us, MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® is the top class among the sustainability seals, as on the one hand high standards are set for the product itself and on the other hand all manufacturing companies involved in the value chain must also comply with comprehensive standards. It is also important to us that you as a customer can check every single production step transparently and easily. This creates trust and gives you the assurance that we really do keep our promises. In this video we have summarized the topic MADE IN GREEN again for you Sources: https://www.oeko-tex.com/de/

Pumpkin roll

22. October 2021 | Recipes

We love autumn with its bright colors and cozy days at home. This weekend, we want to share a recipe with you that’s perfect for fall. These delicious pumpkin rolls are made from simple ingredients and are also super decorative. So if you want to treat your loved ones to something at the weekend, this recipe is just the thing. We hope you enjoy baking them. What you need and how to do it The pumpkin rolls are made from a simple yeast dough that is refined with pumpkin puree and autumnal spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. Preparation: 20 min Walking time: 1.5 h Baking time: 20 min The ingredients For 12 rolls Dough: 500g flour 70g sugar 80g butter (melted) 160g milk (lukewarm) 1 egg ½ yeast cube (or 1 packet of dry yeast) 150g pumpkin puree* 1 pinch of salt Optional: ½ tsp ground cinnamon ½ tsp freshly grated nutmeg Decoration: 1 egg yolk + a little milk to coat String Cinnamon sticks to decorate (alternatively, you can also use whole almonds) *You can buy pumpkin puree in a tin or easily make it yourself. Simply cut a pumpkin in half, brush with a little oil and bake at 200 °C for approx. 30 minutes until it is completely soft. Then puree the soft pumpkin in a blender or mash it with a potato masher. The preparation Heat the milk with a little sugar, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk and set the mixture aside for a few minutes. Melt the butter, but don’t let it get too hot. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg) in a large mixing bowl and then add the pumpkin puree, egg, milk mixture and melted butter. Knead the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands or the dough hook of a food processor. Leave the yeast dough to rise in a warm place for 1 – 1.5 hours. After the dough has risen, knead it again lightly and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into small round balls. You now need a string for the pumpkin look. This should be about 30 cm long. Stringing the dough ball is a bit like stringing a present twice. Place the string on a ball of dough and roll the ball around. Cross the string once and repeat this process three times. Make sure that the string loosely wraps around the dough ball. Attention! The yeast dough will increase in volume during baking. If the strings are too tight, bake them in. Preheat the oven to 190 °C top/bottom heat and leave the shaped pumpkin rolls to rest. Brush the rolls with a little egg yolk before putting them in the oven. Bake the rolls for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Take them out of the oven after baking and leave them to cool for a few minutes. Then carefully remove the tied string. To do this, cut the strings. Finally, decorate the pumpkin rolls with a cinnamon stick (or almond) and enjoy! We hope you enjoy baking ????

Training at Centa-Star in pictures

14. October 2021 | Training at Centa-Star

Just in time for the start of fall, we also kick off the start of training! At the beginning of September, we welcomed two new trainees to our team: Cansu and Sarah have already been able to gain their first experience with us and, of course, the trainees from the two previous years also have a lot to tell. That’s why we would now like to give you an insight into the dual training program for industrial clerks at Centa-Star. Since our foundation over 50 years ago, we have not only been producing high-quality comforters and pillows at our site in Stuttgart Untertürkheim, but also training the young professionals of tomorrow. The strength of the connection between Centa-Star and our trainees can be seen in the number of trainees who are still working for us today! (See picture above) Our new trainees Cansu and Sarah give you an insight into our production The production Production at Centa-Star consists of several departments: the quilting department, sewing department, pillow department and quality control. In the following pictures, we will give you a closer look at how the bedding is made here and what tasks are involved. The quilting The individual components (fabric and fiber/fleece) for comforters or pillowcases are quilted in the quilting shop. The “blanks” are then sent to the sewing room, where they are finished by hand. Setting and starting the quilting machine. 2. the individual components for a quilt, for example, are quilted together at high speed. 3. we love the fluffy, soft fleece that is incorporated into the comforters. For the trainees there is also a pillow fight in production! The control The finished bedding is then checked for technical and visual defects in quality control and repaired if necessary. Comforters and pillows are checked for individual protruding threads, open seams or soiling. If there is a deviation from our quality standard, the products are sorted out and the defect is rectified if possible. Soiling or defects are marked with a silver adhesive. In this picture, soiling is treated with white spirit until it is no longer visible. Packing the bedding If everything fits, the comforters and pillows are packed and dispatched. The individual parts (e.g. covers, cushions and bags) are prepared for packing the goods. Here, the cover is pulled over a neck support pillow. The finished pillow is then packed in a bag. Our trainees Naomi and Michelle give you an insight into vocational school Hello, we are Naomi and Michelle. We’ve been apprentices at Centa-Star since 2020. We are currently at vocational school and would like to give you an insight here. Natalie and Tobi look back on the last two years of training at Centa-Star Hello, we are Natalie and Tobi and are at the end of our 2½-year apprenticeship at Centa-Star. In the last two years of our training, we were able to get to know various departments. This has given us a good overview of how a company is structured and what tasks each department performs. Of course, industrial clerks work a lot on PCs. Office programs such as Outlook, Excel and Word are essential, as is a merchandise management system. The training is very varied due to the alternation between the different departments and the theoretical school blocks. We also really enjoyed internal trainee projects such as planning the summer party at Centa-Star and designing the trainee newspaper. Wir danken unseren Azubis für diesen spannenden Blick hinter die Kulissen ihrer Ausbildung und hoffen, dass diese Eindrücke von der textilen Ausbildung bei Centa-Star für euch genauso interessant waren, wie für uns! Finally a good night’s sleep

21. June 2021 | How To’s, Tips & Tricks, healthcare, Good for Me

A guest article by Dr. Lutz Graumann and André Alesi Being fit, rested and productive during the day has a lot to do with our sleep at night. And the quality of this sleep is in turn determined by our behavior during the day. But what exactly can you do if you don’t get a good night’s sleep and are regularly anything but productive in the morning? You can read the new book by Dr. Lutz Graumann and André Alesi! In “Finally a good night’s sleep”, the two take on the topic of sleep and not only shine with in-depth specialist knowledge, but also clear up misconceptions and show how to do it better. You can look forward to interesting background knowledge about sleep and great tips and tricks to optimize your sleep. And because we don’t want to keep you in suspense for long, here’s an excerpt from “Endlich richtig ausgeschlafen” by Dr. Lutz Graumann and André Alesi for you: Regenerate properly at night The feeling of being well rested and starting the day full of energy – who wouldn’t want that? And not just on Saturdays/Sundays or even just once every few weeks, but regularly and predictably. The good news is that we almost always have it in our own hands to make a good night’s sleep a reality. However, the book “Finally a good night’s sleep” not only describes conditions and behavior that we should throw overboard today, but also provides valuable tips and rules that we can use to start the day a little better rested tomorrow. 10 rules for healthy days and nights Living in harmony with your inner clockSoak up plenty of sunlightNo caffeine after 14:00(More) moveTake strategic regeneration breaksRing in the digital sunset by 21:00 at the latestNo sumptuous meals after sunsetNo alcohol: going to bed soberCreate a bedtime ritualThe perfect sleeping environment (ideally with Centa-Star products, of course) Caffeine enters the bloodstream via the gastrointestinal tract and can develop its stimulating effect just fifteen minutes after ingestion. However, this is offset by its long “residence time” in the body. It takes around six hours for half of the caffeine to be excreted. Take strategic regeneration breaks If you want to make good use of your free time or idle time between meetings, waiting times during business trips or transfers in order to recover quickly and be less exhausted afterwards, you should take strategic rest breaks. This can involve both active exercise and passive rest. About the authors Dr. Lutz Graumann Dr. Lutz Graumann is a doctor of sports medicine, nutritional medicine and chirotherapy. Ute says: “In summer, my Vital Plus lightweight bed keeps me perfectly covered. Thanks to its heat and moisture regulation, I always have a great sleeping climate even in the hot season. Like all high-tech fiber comforters from Centa-Star, Vital Plus is also easy to wash. For me as a dog fan, this is particularly important because my four-legged friends always like to sneak into the bedroom. Just recently, I had just washed my comforter when my dog Ice wanted to enjoy the wonderful properties of Vital Plus with me.”

Hannas’ favorite: Vital Plus all-season bed

27. May 2020 | Our favorites

Hanna says: “There are two very clear fronts in our office: on the one hand, those who would prefer to have the window open all day, even in February, and on the other, colleagues who, like me, start shivering at the mere thought of a cold draught. Even when I went to bed in the evening, I often froze for a long time until I was finally warm enough to go to sleep. Since a colleague from our factory outlet recommended the Vital Plus all-season bed to me, this is now a thing of the past! For a frostbite like me, the cozy, warm bed is just right. I still sleep great under the Vital Plus when my colleagues have long since unpacked their ultra-light summer bed!”

Tips for a good night’s sleep

20. November 2019 | healthcare, Good for Me

It feels like the world is spinning faster and faster and we want to get more and more things done in a day. Sleep doesn’t fit into our schedule at all and the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep per night quickly becomes 6 or less. But good sleep is essential for everyone. It makes us stronger, more focused and more communicative. On average, we spend a third of our lives sleeping. So why don’t we turn this time into something unique? That’s why we have some great sleep tips for you to try out: Turn your bedroom into an oasis Light colors and simple furniture will help you achieve this. The heart of the room is your bed. This should be tailored to you. The mattress should not be too hard or too soft, the pillow should not be too high or too flat and the comforter should be warm but still breathable. The optimum room temperature is 18 °C. Avoid coffee and caffeinated drinks Caffeine suppresses the feeling of being tired. This effect may come in handy in the morning with the first coffee, but should be used with caution. Caffeine has a half-life of 5-7 hours. This means that your body has only broken down half of the caffeine after 5-7 hours! A good rule of thumb is therefore not to have any more caffeinated drinks after 2 p.m. so that you can fall asleep well in the evening. Interrupt the information feed In these times of close networking, we are practically constantly bombarded with information. It is generally advisable to switch off your smartphone, TV or computer at least half an hour before going to bed so that your body has time to wind down. Mindfulness Before going to bed, take 5 minutes to reflect on your day. For example, by writing down in a notebook 2 things that made you happy that day and 2 things that you would like to improve tomorrow. If you write these things down instead of just thinking about them, you can relax better and end the day on a positive note. Drink something warm A tea (caffeine-free) or warm milk with honey in the evening work wonders for problems falling asleep. They relax you and fill you with warmth and serenity. Problems falling asleep? If you’re tossing and turning in bed again and can’t fall asleep, don’t force yourself to. Just get up and go to another room. You can, for example, occupy yourself with a book – but please don’t use your cell phone – until you are tired again. This will train your brain to associate your bed or bedroom with sleep again. “You don’t wait at the dining table until you get hungry. So why lie in bed and wait for sleep” Sleep expert Prof. Dr. med. Matthew Walker Are you feeling a little overwhelmed at this point in our article? You’re probably thinking: “So many rules, I can’t implement them all.” But don’t worry: even if you only implement one of our tips at first, you’re doing something for the quality of your sleep. So give it a try! We wish you a restful night and a good start to the day!

Désirée’s favorite: Famous Duo lightweight comforter

4. October 2019 | Our favorites

Désirée says: “To be honest, I never really got to grips with bedding before my training at Centa-Star. A cheap pillow and an outdated heavy down comforter were my nightly companions in bed. No comparison to the Famous all-season comforter that I now sleep under! The comforter is incredibly light and cuddly – a breath of nothing! And yet I don’t feel cold under it, even though my apartment is in the basement. Thanks to the perfect moisture regulation, I have never sweated under my Famous all-season comforter. My recommendation when choosing a new comforter: it’s best to buy the comfort size (155 x 220 cm), as you can snuggle up wonderfully – even as a couple.”

Iris’ favorite: Famous Duo lightweight comforter

13. September 2019 | Our favorites

Iris says: “Anyone who, like me, travels a lot by car for work knows the difference between a fully equipped car and one that only offers the basic functions. There is exactly the same difference with comforters. Some simply have a lot more to offer – such as my favorite comforter, the Famous all-season comforter. Thanks to the innovative DryFill filling fiber, it is not only beautifully light, but also wonderfully cuddly and offers an absolutely dry sleeping climate. Even the cover fabric helps: Thanks to the CottonTEX finish, it absorbs moisture very quickly and distributes it on the surface, where it can evaporate in record time. I always have my Famous comforter with me when I’m on tour, because I simply don’t want to do without this sleeping comfort. Just like the little extras that my car offers me.”

Julia’s favorite: Royal ultra-light comforter

28. August 2019 | Our favorites

Julia says: “The 2019 festival season is coming to an end and I can look back on wonderful days and nights with good music and a great atmosphere – on the festival site and also on the campsite. Like pretty much every experienced festival camper, I have a few must-haves that I wouldn’t want to be without: flashlight, earplugs and my Royal ultra-light comforter! Sometimes it can get pretty warm in the tent and I prefer the ultra-light and very breathable blanket to any sleeping bag. It’s also very space-saving when rolled up and has found a place in every car, no matter how packed it is.”

carina-royal-ultra-leicht

Carina’s favorite: Royal ultra-light comforter

13. August 2019 | Our favorites

Carina says: “I love my Royal blankets. Anything other than my ultra-lightweight comforter would make me fly out of bed immediately in summer. Thick, heavy and above all warm blankets don’t work for me at all – I even sleep under a Royal lightweight bed in winter. In the past, I often slept without any blankets at all, especially in midsummer, because everything was too warm for me. But I never felt really comfortable. Since I’ve had my ultra-light bed, I no longer have this problem – with the Royal summer beds, I sleep soundly at any temperature.”

Nico’s favorite: Dynamic pillow

22. July 2019 | Our favorites

Nico says: “Slide from the left side into the middle, then three minutes later try the right corner. Turn the pillow over and the whole thing starts all over again. Especially in summer, I used to toss and turn for quite a while before I could finally fall asleep. Quite simply because the pillow under my head got uncomfortably warm very quickly. My girlfriend, on the other hand, was less bothered by her pillow than by my restless sleep – perhaps a pillow that is too warm is really mainly a problem for men. When I heard about the Dynamic pillow from Centa-Star, I was skeptical at first. But I tried it out on the recommendation of a colleague – and yes, it really works! When you first touch it, the pillow feels cool, then it adapts to your body temperature. The Dynamic pillow has never made me feel too warm. I sleep much more soundly now and my girlfriend has a little less trouble with me.”

kiran

Kiran’s favorite: Dynamic Duo lightweight comforter

10. July 2019 | Our favorites

Kiran says: “As a teenager, I never really thought about my comforter. That was before I started my apprenticeship at Centa-Star. Thanks to our great factory outlet and the unique advice from my colleagues, I got hold of a Dynamic all-season comforter. It proves to me every day how happy and relaxed I can now sleep. Finally a comforter that is not too warm in summer and not too cold in winter. It’s also very cozy and I can use it all year round.”
